31 Weeks

So I missed taking a picture last week- so I took a picture yesterday. Which I guess is still 30 weeks if you want to get technical. But I'm feeling lazy so whatever.

Throwin' Skittles at Babies

My very sweet girlfriends threw me a baby shower this weekend and it was so much fun. We laughed and laughed and even today, I'm thinking back on some of the conversations and laughing some more. It's hard to believe that in 9 weeks (or less!) a little bebe will be here!

How to Tell if You Are Pregnant...

- You start bawling over an ASPCA commercial while shoving Cadbury Mini Eggs into your cake-hole.

- You are imagining dinner being a fat hamburger.

- Wanting to go to sleep at 4:30 pm.

Things That Annoy Me

In no particular order:

- Running out of the "good" See's Candies and nothing is left except the nasty bits.
- Guy Fieri on the Food Network. Any man that wears his sunglasses on the back of his head, gold pinky rings and sweatbands needs to be kicked in the head. Oh and he wears shorts with a suit jacket. 'Nuff said.
-Hearing from a zillion people that the book "The Eight" was one of their favorite books; spending hours reading this stupid book thinking "it must get better", then realizing it DOESN'T get better and realizing how much time you've just wasted. GAH.
- Bobby Flay's smug mug on the Food Network. Someone needs to slap that dude upside the head.

I realize I have a lot of angst in me today. I'm not sure what my problem is. I think its because I am out of See's. BOO!

Alyssa's 6th Birthday

Yesterday Alyssa had her 6th birthday party at the Everett Children's Museum. It was a lot of fun (well a ton more fun if you were under the age of 10). I can't believe she's 6 already! And of course, what kind of cake did she want? A Barbie cake. It was a little harder to crank out this year, being preggers makes it harder to stand in the kitchen frosting and decorating. But luckily, the doll she wanted was all about the butterfly wings and I didn't have to do too much to it.

A Sack of Wiggly Puppies?

I just read someone's blog post and they said that they feel like their pregnant belly has been like a sack of wiggly puppies. Ew gross.

I admit the Kiddo has been rockin' and rollin' a ton more lately, and it feels like the baby is on a waterbed. Sometimes it feels so strong it takes my breath away for a second. I wish I had a little "Baby Cam" to see what's going on in there. Mostly, it does it's headbanging after I've had a couple of chocolates. Jeremy got me a box of See's Candies for "Valentime's Day" (yes I asked for it and yes, it's totally disgusting. But I love it right now) and some really cute outfits for the rugrat. It made me smile, thinking of him shopping in Old Navy for baby clothes. It was very very sweet.

This week will be 30 weeks and my mom is going to join me at my check up with Dr. Dorcas. Then I'll be going every two weeks after that. April 18 will be my last day of work and I can't tell you how excited I am for that! :)

Hard to Imagine

The past few days has given me some good time for reflection. (I guess being sick and home-bound will do that to you.) It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks there will be another little being here, sharing our space and our lives. I don't mean to get all crazy-cuckoo on you, but SERIOUSLY. Think about how WILD that is! I just finished reading "The Guide to Childbirth" by Ina May Gaskin and for all the crazy hippy-earth mother stuff that is in there- there are some profound words of wisdom about how amazing this whole process is. For the longest time I was scared shitless, but now I seem to have relaxed, taken a deep breath and have accepted the prospect of events to come. It's funny how long you get to sit back and think about things, 10 months (40 weeks) is a long time to have these thoughts to mull over.

I think the biggest thing I've accepted is that whatever will come will come. If it's a non-medicated or medicated birth, I'll take what I can get. (But honestly, who wants a big fat needle stuck in your back? I'll take my chances with going sans epidural).

I'm also very excited to see what our little rugrat will look like. Do you think it will have a ton of hair or be pretty bald for a while? Jeremy and I have both agreed, if it's a girl, we will not put those little bow headbands on the baby. They just look too weird and uncomfortable.

28 Weeks

Hard to believe I'm in the home stretch! 12 Weeks and 4 days to go!

Back to the Red Vines

All is well, it turns out my glucose test came back normal today. Although I do have to say it was sort of a wake up call to eat a little better. Especially since my iron levels are a little low too. So, back to the veggies (ew) and red meat for me. And a little Red Vines thrown in there once in a while.

Still battling a cold though, lots of congestion and groddy snot. Lovely!

Snotty.

GAH. Today I am just full of snot and have a sore throat. How did this happen! Who got me sick!!

My glucose test yesterday was ok, it wasn't too terrible and the technician that took my blood was really good. I have to wait until tomorrow to find out my results, but I'm crossing my fingers and toes that I don't have to worry about this any longer. I was so tired yesterday that I just came home and crashed for three hours.

SUCKS!!

So guess who got a call from the nurse at Dr. Dorcas' office today saying that they needed to come back to the doctor for a THREE HOUR glucose test?! LAME!! I feel so defeated. I mean I know I've gotten worse over the past few weeks in terms of my diet (who the hell wants broccoli and spinach when cookies are waay more delicious?) and I'm guessing my increase in Red Vines over the past few weeks have finally come back to haunt me. Booo.

So the deal is that I need to fast overnight, come in to the lab in the morning, get my blood drawn then chug the nasty drink again, wait an hour, get my blood drawn, wait an hour, get my blood drawn again, then wait another hour for the last blood draw. Maybe I'll be able to zip over to Ikea between blood draws and waste time looking at fun Swedish furniture.

Sigh.

So Tired

Today I had my glucose screening test and so I had to chug a nasty, super sweet orange drink and then go to the doctor to get my blood drawn. Not a terrible experience, and I didn't barf- so I consider it a success. I saw Dr. Dorcas, she measured my belly and made the comment "Wow, you're getting bigger!", listened to the baby's heartbeat and then we were on our way. Pretty soon, I go back in three weeks and then I go every two weeks after that. Crazy!
